Applied Learning Programme
Active Voice Broadcast Journalism
Deyi’s ALP focuses on equipping students to tackle complex, real-world challenges shaped by contemporary societal and global issues. Through authentic experiences such as problem-based projects linked to sustainability, technology (AI), and societal needs, students develop critical thinking, collaboration, and adaptive skills. The programme’s intent is to cultivate learners who can analyse and respond thoughtfully to evolving challenges, becoming socially aware, advocate for causes, and innovative individuals ready to contribute responsibly in an interconnected and rapidly changing world.
The ALP adopts a 3-Tier approach:
(i) Tier 1 (Explore) focuses on baseline skills on media production and journalism (e.g., storyboarding, filming, animation, audio track layering, chroma key green screen technology, editing, transitions, sub-titling) through curated workshops and the Augmented Reality Journalism Trail. These experiences build critical thinking, perspective-taking and persuasive communication skills. This is extended to all Secondary 1 to 4 students.
(ii) Tier 2 (Excite) focuses on developing students' interest in advanced media communication and content creation, leveraging authentic multimedia platforms like broadcasts, podcasts and live streaming. This extends the students’ development of 21CC and provides opportunities for them to reach out to the larger school and community. This is extended to the Young Journalists’ Club CCA students.
(iii) Tier 3 (Excel) focuses on the identification and development of students' talent in multimedia production through specialised training and participation in national and international competitions.
