Mathematics Department
Guided by our Vision “To nurture Passionate Learners, Creative Thinkers and Effective Problem Solvers” and Mission “Exploring new angles through Mathematics,” the Mathematics Department continues to design learning experiences that inspire curiosity, build confidence, and strengthen students’ problem-solving competencies. We believe that every student can appreciate the beauty of mathematics when they are given opportunities to explore, question, and discover.
Learning Mathematics can be fun and meaningful! At this year’s Learning Festival, our Secondary 1 students took their mathematical thinking to new heights, literally with a game of 3D Tic-Tac-Toe. Far from a simple game, this activity challenged students to visualise patterns across multiple layers, strategise several steps ahead, and sharpen their spatial reasoning skills. The energy was high, the competition was friendly, and the level of concentration on our students’ faces said it all. Through play-based learning, students experienced firsthand how mathematical thinking can be dynamic, interactive, and deeply engaging.
We are also proud to celebrate the achievements of our Deyians who demonstrated creativity, innovation and perseverance beyond the classroom.
This year, 24 students from our school also participated in the Ngee Ann Polytechnic Challenge 2025, forming three teams of eight. We are delighted to share that one of our teams emerged as the Overall Champion in the Alpha Blast Team Challenge, demonstrating exceptional teamwork, creativity, and analytical thinking. In addition, the team also clinched the 2nd Runner-up position in the Mathematics Quiz Category, showcasing their strong mathematical grounding and quick-thinking abilities. Their achievements reflect the spirit of exploration and excellence that the Mathematics Department seeks to nurture in all our learners.
In the Animation and Game Making (AGM) Competition 2025, Izyan Hafiy BinmMohamad Shaifful achieved the Bronze Award, a national event organised by the Computer Education Unit for secondary school students taking Computer Applications (CPA). This prestigious platform showcases the best in student-created animation and game design, and Izyan’s accomplishment reflects both his talent and dedication.
Learning Principles of Accounts (POA) is made engaging and meaningful through creative lesson activities, gameplay, and authentic realworld connections. These approaches help bring the subject to life and deepen students’ understanding. Our Accounting students have continued to excel, making us proud through their participation and success in external platforms such as the National Financial Literacy Challenge and the National Accounting Challenge. We commend them for their perseverance, enthusiasm, and strong pursuit of excellence.
